Waythrough Counselling - I'm a Professional Standards Authority Registered Counsellor

Hello, my name is Sheila and welcome to my website.

I understand that to considering going to counselling can be a really big decision, so I hope that I can provide enough information for you so that contacting me is a little easier.
We all aim to get through life without encountering any difficulties and talking things through with family and friends can be really useful. However, there are times when it can be helpful to talk to an impartial empathetic professional in privacy and independent of your circumstances.

I provide a confidential, safe and empathic environment where personal emotional struggles can be explored and more insight gained. I do not give advice, but I am an impartial and trained professional who is able to listen to you in a non-judgemental way and to work with you and to help you to develop a better understanding of yourself.

I call my counselling service "Waythrough Counselling" because we often attempt to sidestep and avoid life's difficulties which may work for a while, but eventually we have to begin to explore what we've experienced. Counselling is not a quick fix, and as a client you must be prepared to embark on a journey which will involve increasing your own self awareness (which may be uncomfortable at times) but it is a valuable learning space to find your own "waythrough".

My experience:

I trained in London for two years and gained valuable experience since graduating with a L4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative) in 2010. I counselled over a number of years at an agency in Kent, assisting the Agency Manager in coordinating a large team of counsellors, as well as taking referrals from clients.

After leaving the agency in Kent I then worked with a UK Charity in developing and managing a small team of counsellors where as a team we offered low cost counselling within the large and diverse, multi-cultural setting in Croydon, London. I was also a member of a local Talking Therapies Forum where we explored ways of making low cost counselling more accessible to the local community of Croydon with the local CCG.
